The Breakfast Club
"...They who are near to me do not know that you are nearer to me than they are. They who speak to me do not know that my heart is full with your unspoken words. They who crowd in my path do now know that I am walking alone with you. They who love me do not know that their love brings you to my heart..." Rabindranath Tagore: 1861-1941

Life of a Princess

The many faces of Princess Di:
From a regular paparazzi target for her fashion style to a more laid-back "working princess"; unassuming bride to a woman of her own; teener who's favorites included Duran Duran and a dedicated mom.

I'm sure all of you who have been born in the 70s got the chance to see Princess Di's wedding. I remember seeing it on TV with the long red carpet of the cathedral and a stunningly beautiful young Princess Di in a lovely cream wedding dress. I asked my Mom who she was and was told that this is Princess Diana.

For a little girl who grew up in fairy tale books and Disney's Cinderella, Princess Di looked every inch what a princess should be - blonde and blue-eyed with loads of charm. But don't get me wrong. I'm not one of those people who only saw her as a fashion ingenue and regarded her as a living Barbie. I liked her because she was a trailblazer in her own right, projecting warmth into the stiff British royalty and refused to be "watered down". She knew how to cuddle her kids, how to approach a stranger and make them at ease and to attend to the sick, especially those who had AIDS when they were being shunned. According to CNN, Diana never excelled academically at school but was recognized at West Heath, in Kent, with a special award for service in 1977. She was described there as "a girl who notices what needs to be done, then does it willingly and cheerfully."

Ironic that she died when she finally shed the "princess" image, supported her own cause (banning of land-mines) and had some sort of peace of mind. Others choose to remember her as a tragic beauty. For me, she made mistakes, had regrets but did what she had to do and willingly gave as much as she can.

So for Princess Diana who was a person who has lived in glamour and adoration, craved love and affection most, but was able to transcend her own miseries for others how, indeed, do you measure her life in years? To quote Seasons of Love, how about love? I'm sure Princess Diana will live forever.

Five Hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,
Five Hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear,
Five Hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,
how do you measure, measure a year,
in daylights,
in sunsets,
in midnights and cups of coffee,
in inches,
in miles and laughter and strife,
in five Hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,
how do you measure, a year in the life,
how about love,
how about love,
how about love,
measure in love,
seasons of love,
seasons of love,
five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,
five hundred twenty five thousand journeys to plan,
five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes,
how do you measure the life of a woman or a man,
in truths that she learned,
or in times that he cried,
in bridges he burned or the way that she died,
its time now to sing out though the story never ends,
lets celebrate remember a year in the life of friends,
remember the love,
remember the love,
remember the love,
measure in love,
seasons of love,
seasons of love.

"...Your thoughtful words are as much appreciated as they are undeserved
and I will hope always to be worthy of them..."

E 2 araw pa bago sweldo so good luck to all of us.

Tamang World War II and drama nila. I understand the temptation. Jack n' Jill Potato Chips ba naman e.

Chaka, to my dearest Mommy, salamat sa Wendy's Mushroom n' Cheese na burger with Large Fries and Coke.

So ayun.

Kaya Anne, next time na mangailangan ako, you know what to do, heehee.

What if Lindsay was Hermione?

Since I am in a Harry Potter groove lately, let me share you hilarious SNL's dig on Harry Potter and Hermione's, uh, huge talents. Kinda old, I know, but it will tide us over until Goblet of Fire is shown on November...
