The Breakfast Club
"...They who are near to me do not know that you are nearer to me than they are. They who speak to me do not know that my heart is full with your unspoken words. They who crowd in my path do now know that I am walking alone with you. They who love me do not know that their love brings you to my heart..." Rabindranath Tagore: 1861-1941

The Goblet Is Full

Yeah I already watched Goblet of Fire last Saturday...alone.

Imagine, out of 8 cinemas, 6 ang allotted for GOF! Buti nga napansin ko pa na yung oras na pinaka-OK for me to watch the movie is the screentime for Flightplan!

Finally, 3:00 came and what better way to ruin the afternoon than losing my key to my locker. Where my bag is. P*ksyet talaga! Tapos what do you expect kung payday weekend? TRAFFIC!

Pero infairness, this movie is worlds better than the previous Harry Potter movies. And what I like most is how the friendship between the main characters is highlighted. Hindi limited to Harry, Ron and Hermione but we see more of Neville, the Twins as well as Ginny.

The Yule Ball....aaaah. I don't know anybody who did not like the Yule Ball scenes. And Ron's dress robes? Saan ang burol mo? Baduy kung baduy. Kawawa naman. Also, I noticed Harry holding a toothbrush just before they go down to the Ball.

Masagwa tignan...

While everybody is enjoying, nagmumukmok sila, o...

There was a lot of humor both intended and unintended. Thank God, there was only one scene of Ron Weasley with his trademark limp-noodle face. We see Ron angry, jealous, frustrated, etc. And now I understand why all those girls were screaming the loudest when Rupert Grint arrived at the London premiere. This guy's actually quite cute.

I loved how they toned down Hermione's character here. In Prisoner of Azkaban, I was annoyed at how they played out Hermione's character and transformed her into Pink Power Granger! But here, she was able to show how much she truly cares and loves for Harry in a sisterly way.

And the bath scene with Moaning Myrtle? This truly showed that Harry is no longer a boy. I was not expecting Dan Radcliffe to be buff. I guess there is another reason why Myrtle is moaning these days. Naughty, naughty! Pero ako, this scene made me uncomfortable. Ewan ko if it's because Myrtle is a ghost or the fact that her character is being played by a 32-year old actress.

And while we are in the topic of the goodlooking boys of Hogwarts, special mention goes to Fred and George and shempre, si Cedric. But Viktor Krum?

See, gwapo diba?

And while I already armed myself with tissues for the graveyard scene, I was not expecting to be moved by Hermione during her fight with Ron at the Yule Ball. The way Ron made Hermione feel so bad she slumped on the Great Hall steps crying. Ah, young love.

So the graveyard scene: creepy as hell with that big Angel of Death statue . And Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort actually gave me shudders. It's the way his eyes "talk". I swear this guy can act with his eyes alone! And the way he moves and arches his body, reminds me of nothing else but a SNAKE! Eaargh! Tama si Ia, it's amazing how the loss of the nose will make you look INHUMAN.

Reminds you of Michael Jackson, huh?

In fairness, the way the death of Cedric was played was really moving. From the simple whoosh of the killing curse and bam! We see a dead Cedric with eyes still open. The way Harry told Voldemort "Don't touch him!" as he used his foot to tilt Cedric's head, I swear I could feel the hatred towards Voldemort. What especially touched me was when Harry's parents came out of the wand to talk briefly to Harry... it brought to the forefront that only a truly evil person can kill an infant's parents and for me, highlighted Harry's loss at the hands of the baddest man on the wizarding world.

I guess the hallmark of a good movie is when you don't want the movie to end. I know a lot of people are complaining that it is too fast-paced but for a two-and-a-half-hour movie, GOF covered almost all the important events in the book. I wished there was more of Sirius Black (which meand more of Gary Oldman, yay!) but other than that, I'm OK.

Hay, 2 taon pa bago Order of the Phoenix. Sana by that time, walang mawalang locker key at hindi na ako male-late!

Dumating Ka Na Ren!

MiG Ayesa is here. Yup, him and his killer abs and blue eyes. But I am so sorry to have missed the Meet and Greet planned by his cousin for all MiG fans. It was supposed to have been yesterday at the MTV Studios at The Fort at 2:30 PM but coming from my rest days, I missed the almost 120 messages from MiG's Pinoy fans. Dang! I, along with Candy, could have been there! We should have posted our pictures with MiG right here, o...RIGHT HERE!!! Yamot! Minsan-minsan ka na nga lang mag-aabang ng rockstar, and I missed it! P*ksyet!

Funny nga itong si Becky Dereck e. I told him that Constantine Maroulis arrived na (I was expecting him to be some sort of a fan, because of American Idol but what did he say? "Sorry, wala si Constantine sa consciousness ko!" (In true diva fashion, ha!...First-name basis pa o!)... So I then informed him of the great news that MiG is here na! Eto ang naging conversation namen:

Dereck: "Ay nako! Hindi ko sha gusto no! Mas gusto ko pa ren si JD!"

It took all the discipline not to lash back that why in the world would you like JD?!? That drama king whose only talent is to impersonate dead rockers! Pero, keri lang...

Dereck: "Hindi naman sha guwapo no! In fact mas bagay sha sa INXS kse mejo matanda na ren sila!"

Ouch! Friend kita Becky Dereck! Friend kita! Friend kita...

Candy: Uy! Si MiG (looking at MiG's picture on Inquirer Libre)!!!

ETO PO ANG CLINCHER:

Dereck: Ay yan ba si MiG? Eh hindi sya yung tinutukoy ko!

Yun! Nice one, diba?

MiG

Aayaw ka ba naman dito?!?

Dark Times Lie Ahead

At long last, Goblet of Fire is only a few hours away! I don't know why the Philippines is actually the first in Asia to have the regular showing of GOF (we're even ahead of the US regular showing...) but I'm guessing this is to beat all those damn pirated DVDs which might start circulating. You know, the ones where the movie title page reads Tarru Potter ank anh Guvler unt Fwe or something with subtitles which are annoyingly inaccurate. For this movie, spare me these rotten copies because I prefer to watch it on the big screen where the threat of my heart jumping out of my skin is imminent.

So, yeah, I have started making plans as to WHEN I am actually free to watch the movie. My son is already out of the question, so sorry, because he is smart enough to know and decide that he has no plans of seeing the rebirth of Voldemort. He was especially scared of the Philosopher's Stone with Voldemort sticking out the back of Prof. Quirell's head and is fine with a DVD copy though. There is the occasional urge to take a leave from the office and watch the movie from the first to the last full show but I'm afraid of what my state of mind will be this.

I actually started drooling over watching this movie as soon as Half-Blood Prince was released... in JULY! That's 4 months of anticipation building. Those spoilers you see on the net? Watched them all! The only piece missing are the opening and closing credits and of course, Voldemort's rebirth (and the Yule Ball... and the Triwizard Tournament...and Harry's dead parents helping him out, hey! I have not spoiled myself at all!!!).

Now, I can say that my DVD copy of Prisoner of Azkaban can rest. I think it has been played in our house for hundreds of times and I believe I can recite the movie from start to finish. Honestly, sawa na ren ako...

So, whatever movie food you prefer...popcorn, nachos, khet lata ng MY San kung yun ang trip mo, tara na!
